First aid Kit
A personal first aid kit is important if you are going to be anywhere that the emergency services could have difficulty getting to. As Spartan is in a rural area it is unlikely that they would get to you within an hour. There are many fist aid kits on the market but you will need to keep in mind that your kit will not be carried in the bottom of a rucksack or bag. Due to this you will need to make sure it is in a durable water proof container. Good places to buy a pre made kit are camping/mountaineering stores, but these tend to be in bright red pouches, so you’ll have to put this in something else. Web Tex produce a personal kit that is worth looking at. It comes in its own durable DPM pouch and has most of what you’ll need. The main things you need to consider for your kit is the type of wounds you are likely to be treating and pack accordingly. The most common will be minor cuts or lacerations which require cleaning and keeping clean. Twisted ankles and broken bones will need immobilising. If you wish to build your own kit here are some items that you should carry in your kit.
