SPLAV Bekas BDUs

The Bekas are made of a material called “Gretta” which means nothing to me but I reckon that this material is one of the hardest wearing that I’ve come across in a set of BDUs. I’m pretty sure that the material is windproof but I can’t confirm this. The only weak point I’ve come across so far is the stitching but this seems to be a problem with the old variety as my latest ones are bomb proof. The jacket is a simple with two zipped breast pockets that are handy for small items. The arm pocket is just the right size for the emergency bog roll. The press studs go rusty quite quickly, particularly if you don’t open them for washing and drying. The trousers are the best half of this set. The knees are double lined although I did rip through both of these in a really nasty fall. The trouser bottoms have elastic in them and foot loops to stop the trouser riding up. I find these really handy as there’s no ties to come undone or need to re-arrange your trousers half way through the game. There’s a hip pocket designed for a knife but I use it to carry my Bahco Laplander (the only tool that I really use at Spartan). The usual BDU hip pockets are on the front, a feature I find really useful as it means you can visually keep a check on the contents. The flap is sewn so that when closed items can’t fall out. I’ve found that they are really good dump pouches as they fit AK mags. The back hip pocket is a little too small to carry anything useful but then that’s probably a good idea as you wouldn’t notice if it went walkabout.
