Sleeping mat





Part of the insulation of your sleeping bag will be the mat that you put under it. As the insulation of the bag is effectively useless underneath you (because it is compressed thus losing its thermal properties), you need to add an additional layer of insulation between you and the ground. The thicker your sleeping mat, the more comfortable your night will be.
